Pre-K has been working with the Kodable app in the library! They LOVE solving the maze puzzles!! Here is a nice article about Preschool and Kindergarten children learning to do pre-coding  FUN-damental skills with this app:  http://readwrite.com/2013/04/23/kodablehttp://readwrite.com/2013/04/23/kodable-teaches-kids-to-code-before-they-learn-to-read#awesm=~ot4giGn0fJeiVu.-teaches-kids-to-code-before-they-learn-to-read#awesm=~ot4giGn0fJeiVu.

If you are interested in getting this app, here is the Itunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kodable/id577673067?ls=1&mt=8. I have not seen an android link for Kodable.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, Kindergarten read a beautifully illustrated Martin Luther King Jr. book and learned some fun MLK Jr. Songs! In this picture, Ms Ledet is reading to the students.

We Had So Much Fun Singing This Song, You Try It!

PictureBook Cover: Martin's Big Words
Let Us Keep His Dream Alive

to the tune of "This Old Man"

This young man had a dream;
In his eye he had a gleam.
We must love each other to survive.
Let us keep his dream alive.

He believed man was good;
He had dreams of brotherhood.
We must love each other to survive.
Let us keep his dream alive.

All join hands, let us sing;
Let the bells of freedom ring.
We must love each other to survive.
Let us keep his dream alive.

We can learn from the past;
Then we'll all be "free at last!"
We must love each other to survive.
Let us keep his dream alive.

Soure http://www.theholidayzone.com/mlk/mlksongs.html Note from website author: "Let Us Keep His Dream Alive" is not an original song. It's one I've had in my card file for ages, but I have no idea who the original author was. If you know, please e-mail me so proper credit can be given.

Check out our new Symbaloo Webmix (found on the Destiny page). The first two columns on the left all have the same log in from home. Ask your child if he or she remember the log in! We have been practicing!!

Pebble Go by Capstone is a fun, graphic research database for PreK-2.  Early World of Learning is also great for the little ones. The World Book Student has an entire section dedicated to the teaching of research.

We have two Spanish resources, Brainop Espanol and WorldBook Estudiantil Hallazgos. WorldBook Discover for Kids is great for the whole school.

Don't forget to enjoy the 210 Capstone Interactive Books and the Storybooks, Non Fiction, Chapter books, and videos in Tumblooks! Finally, if you want to meet an author, just head over to Teachingbooks.net! You can see various booktalks and learn how the authors came up with their ideas for their stories.
