I enjoyed this book but then again, I really like stories about school and friendship! This is a good book for someone exploring the meaning of friendship and how you treat your friends. This book also helps the reader to think more deeply about the simple things around them. Elise's mom died when she was born and her father died when she was very young so she was raised by wonderful relatives. She goes through middle school turmoil of dealing with a "mean girl" and soon it becomes time for her to receive "eight keys"...this becomes a bit of a mystery that she slowly starts to understand and the process makes her think a lot more about what's important in life.
